Whether you're coming from the North or South, it's a simple trip down I-5 to exit 226, a short jaunt down highway-536W towards the coast, and then follow scenic Hwy 20 to the iconic pass and Whidbey Island beyond.

Start Your Scenic Drive

Your adventure starts at the roundabout at Sharpe's Corner with stunning views of Padilla Bay and the Fidalgo Bay Aquatic Reserve. The Country Corner is the place to stock up on snacks and water for your drive.

Lake Campbell

After a little over 2 1/2 miles of tall pine trees, beautiful forests and peaceful meadows, you'll be delighted by the sights of Lake Campbell peeking through the trees.

1st Stop: Shrimp Shack

Don't let the name fool you, Shrimp Shack doesn't just have incredible shrimp and seafood, it also has delicious burgers. The perfect blend of the two may be its Oyster Burger, which is out of the sea and out of this world!

The Wild And Beautiful Skies Around Deception Pass

While you're driving through Deception Pass, keep an eye open for the unique airborne wildlife that calls it home, including the Black Oystercatcher, Belted Kingfishers, Black Turnstones, and a host of loons, cormorants, gulls, sea ducks, grebes and more!

2nd Stop: Deception Pass Tours Ice Cream

Deception Pass Tours provides an incredible boat tour of the pass, but their real claim to fame is their astonishing ice cream challenge. Every year hundreds of people attempt to tackle the Colossal Cone, a quart of ice cream served up in a gargantuan cone! The next time you take a tour, try out their incredible local flavors and see if you can handle the colossal cone!

Pass Lake

This oasis is 4 miles into the Deception Pass Drive. You almost can't tell you are coming up on it, until suddenly the trees clear away and the water is mere feet away.

3rd Stop: Deception Pass Park is one of the most popular stops in the Northwest with its incredible sunsets, hidden coves, and great family activities like hiking its numerous trails and fishing at Cranberry Lake. As the day settles to an end, there's nothing like the stunning sunsets you can catch from the beaches throughout the park, the perfect end to a perfect day.

4th Stop: Seabolts At Deception Market And Deli

Walking distance from the Cranberry Lake Campground, Seabolts at Deception offers rich and meaty burgers, served up on delicious potato rolls. In the mood for seafood? Try their Halibut Fish and Chips! They also have a selection of seafood from Seabolt's Smokehouse in Oak Harbor including their famous smoked salmon.
